Episode 5 of Season 8, the penultimate episode of the season finale of Game of Thrones was a total wreck. No one saw it coming. The infamous King’s Landing was turned to a pile of ash.

After Missandei, a slave that Daenerys turned to one of her trusted advisor, was killed by Cersei. Daenerys Targryen, The Great Khaleesi, Breaker of Chains and Mother of Dragons went into crazy mode, she totally went against her character by burning down the city and the inhabitants including innocent children.

People blame it on the writers for destroying the build-up of such an amazing character in episode 5 of season 8 of the series. Fans are in disbelief that they waited for almost 10years to see the long-time villain of the series, Cersie Lannister, killed by just bricks. Fans were expecting to see her killed by Arya Stark or Daenerys herself, it was disappointing to see that she died in the arms of her long-time lover, Jaime Lannister. The death was too merciful, compared with the innocent thousands burning alive just outside the wall.

The massacre of the inhabitants of King’s Landing was completely unnecessary, especially considering the way they surrendered to her in defeat by ringing the bells, the episode was even named for that scene.

Game of Thrones is known for shocking the fans, but this episode 5 of the season 8 was just heart-wrenching. We saw a lot of favourite characters die, like Varys our favourite Master of Whisperer and Hound who died a hero, but there was just too much casualties that fans are still left in unbelief and disappointment after watching episode 5 of season 8 of the popular series.
